The Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum

The Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum 1

All Early Years providers in England must follow the Early years foundation stage.  This sets the standards for the learning, development and care of your child from birth to 5 years old.  At Widden Plus Nursery, we follow a play based curriculum where your child will learn and be taught at a pace that is appropriate to their development.  The learning assistants will use the children's interests and will work closely with you to develop activities and ideas to meet your child's needs.

There are seven areas of learning in the foundation stage.  These are:

  • communication and language
  • physical development
  • personal, social and emotional development
  • literacy
  • mathematics
  • understanding the world
  • expressive arts and design

We hold regular parent consultation meetings to share your child's progress and to hear all about what they like to do at home!
