Widden Primary School

Pastoral Support

One of the greatest strengths of this school has always been its outstanding pastoral care and strong sense of community. We believe that the welfare of all of our pupils is paramount, because when a child feels safe and secure in their environment they are able to learn and develop their talents to the full.

At Widden Primary School, we have a team of people who are responsible for the pastoral care of the children. Mrs Kittle is our Designated Safeguarding Lead. Mrs Kittle is our Safeguarding and Pastoral Lead and she oversees welfare support and coordinates a wider team of dedicated staff. Part of this role includes promoting children's safety and well-being, monitoring attendance and working alongside families to remove any social or emotional barriers to learning. The other members of the pastoral team are Mr Patel, who works predominantly with our Arabic, Gujarati and Urdu speaking families, and Miss Kalejova who supports our Czech, Slovak and Eastern European families. We also have two Learning Mentors: Mrs Gray and Mrs Barr. They are focused on removing barriers to learning and supporting children with pastoral needs to ensure that all of our children are able to make good academic progress.
