WELCOME TO YEAR 1

The Summer Term is an exciting and busy time for Year 1, full of new learning and opportunities to grow! In Maths, the children will be developing their understanding of numbers up to 100, as well as exploring fractions by learning about halves and quarters.

In English, we will be inspired by the vibrant country of India, using it as a stimulus for creative writing. This links beautifully with our Art lessons, where the children will design and create their own colourful rangoli patterns.

Our Physical Education lessons will focus on improving coordination and teamwork through striking and fielding activities, alongside a range of fun ball games. In History, we will be travelling back in time to learn about how humans have explored beyond Earth, sparking curiosity about space and discovery.

We will also continue to build our Computing skills by developing early programming knowledge. Altogether, this term offers a rich and varied curriculum, helping the children to broaden their understanding of the wider world while becoming confident, well-rounded learners.

Home reading books should be brought to school daily. Please listen to your child read every day.
