Widden Workshops

Welcome to the Widden Workshop page!

Every Friday afternoon the children at Widden are able to take part in a Widden Workshop. The workshops are based on 8 strands of talent and these workshops embody the mission statement and ethos of the school by 'opening doors to wider learning'.

The children can choose a workshop by selecting one of the 8 talent strands below:

Workshops serve a number of purposes at Widden. In addition to being fun and promoting other aspects of the curriculum and wider learning they also allow us to identify ability and talent. Each term we also deliver focused workshops with specialist practitioners and teachers with outstanding subject knowledge in a particular area. These workshops can be across the 8 strands of talent or they can be in one of the 'highly able' subjects; Literacy, mathematics and science.

Involving the Community

Where possible we try to engage with the local community and with parents and carers.

Some examples of this include our workshop partnership with Gloucester Academy School, our continued partnership with GL1 leisure centre, use of Montagu Academy sports coaching, a boxing workshop with Gloucester Fight Factory Gym and a number of gardening, dance and food technology workshops involving parents.

If you are a parent/ carer, local business, or other community stakeholder and you would like to explore the possibility of getting involved with Widden workshops then please contact Mr Doyle our Highly Able and Talented coordinator or Mrs Jones who is the Parental Engagement coordinator.
