The teaching assistant in Year 4 is:
Mrs. Bobat

This term our topic is Early Civilisation. In History, the children will be learning about what life was like back three different periods of time: Ancient Sumer, Indus Valley and the Shang Dynasty. They will be looking at the inventions from people in this time and comparing it to how they have been improved and used in our lives today.
Our book for this term will be 'The Great Chocoplot'
written by Chris Gallaghan.
Useful Information
Children should wear P.E kit (white t-shirt and black tracksuit or leggings), green jumper if it is cold) on P.E days. For swimming - children will need to bring a swimming costume, a towel and goggles if necessary. Children must not wear large earrings as they will not be allowed to swim if they cannot take them out.
Children should also bring a water bottle to school so that they do not have to leave a lesson when they get thirsty.
Homework
Children will be provided with weekly homework. This may include maths based activities, writing activities and/or other activities relating to the curriculum. Home reading books are also being sent home. Please return these as soon as they have been read (alongside a comment on their home reading record) so that a new book can be given out. It is expected that parents or carers will read with their children at least 3 times a week for 10 minutes or more.
Year 4 Red Bus Book Challenge
Below is the Year 4 book Red Bus challenge. We'd love to see the children each read as many of these as they can during the year. This is a challenge and there will be prizes for those who read the most! The books have been carefully chosen because we love them, and we are sure the children will too!
All books are available in school but due to having limited numbers of some we do ask that any which are borrowed are returned quickly. We also encourage all home books to be returned on a daily basis so that we can keep a record of how much your child is reading at home. Any reading you can do with them really does help them so much.
